Coyotes prospect Brendan Shinnimin has been named the CCM Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Player of the Year. Shinnimin also won the Chrysler Dodge Top Scorer of the Year award.
Shinnimin recorded 58-76-134 in 69 games with the Tri-City Americans (WHL) this season, earning him the Bob Clarke trophy as the WHL's leading regular season scorer.
Shinnimin was named the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Player of the Year on May 2. He signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Coyotes on March 2.

Bowman Receives Canada's Second-Highest Honor
Hall of Fame coach Scotty Bowman received the Governor General's highest honor on Friday, as he was admitted to the Order of Canada.
"It's certainly different from my Stanley Cup rings, and I look forward to wearing it on special occasions," Bowman said after a ceremony in which he received a red-and-white medallion from Governor General David Johnston.
Jackets' Johnson Named USA Captain
Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson has been selected captain for Team USA at the 2012 world championships, which begin Friday in Helsinki and Stockholm.
It will be the second time that he will serve as team captain in his international career, also doing the honors on the 2010 world championships team.

Coyotes prospect Brendan Shinnimin has been named the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Player of the Year. Shinnimin is the first player to win the Player of the Year award from the WHL's Western Conference since Dan Hamhuis won with Prince George during the 2001-02 season.
